Hand-building clay post is the oldest method of forming clay. Here I have used 2 types of clay mix to investigate basic bowl forms. Forms like this have been used since prehistoric time to hold food, water or cremated remains. The smoke fired bowls are fired once in a kiln, then again in a traditional open fired brick kiln. The black bowls use a heavily grogged clay once fired.
