Here at Awen Arts we have created our own symbol where the smooth circles over the top represents the sky, the leading lines form a tree representing land with leaves replacing the circles and the wavy lines at the bottom being the sea (Sky, Land and Sea)
Awen is a Welsh and Celtic word. It is a symbol of creativity and inspiration and is often an inspirational muse of creative artists.

The symbol has three of each element which is a very sacred number in Celtic culture.
This design consists of lines leading upwards, topped by dots surrounded by concentric circles. Each of these elements represents different meanings by different cultures.
The 3 different leading lines have many different meanings. These include:
- Three rays of light
- The underworld, middle world and upper world
- Love, Wisdom and Truth
- Nature, Knowledge and Truth
- Man, Balance and Woman
- Sea, Land and Sky
The dots represent either the Holy Trinity, also the Triad of sunrises, the points where the sun rises on the equinoxes and solstices.
The three concentric circles indicate the timeless nature of the trinities.
The Awen has existed for centuries, but only in more recent times has it been represented as a symbol.
